march

summary: jean’s first year in denny complete! and so begins the era of me not logging RA, so you bet your ass i’m gonna be missing some stuff here! this marks the beginning of jean’s palemancer arc, and a turning point in his relationship with harry.

• march 4th | duality of mann| comms with chester mclaine.
1. chester has moved out into his own apartment. jean checks in on him.
• march 5th | as one long prepared and full of courage | drabble.
1. jean finally chooses to let go of the image of harry he’s been clinging on to for the last year and let himself grieve his friend he lost while moving forward with the one he knows now. he shaves his head in mourning and sheds a hefty amount of his pale sickness with it.
• march 5th | rank up! | general event.
1. jean reaches rank 5 of the winter path! this comes with a species swap to a fury! jean now places curses on people for money, and turns into a freakish heron-like beast when he’s enraged. also comes with the clairvoyance spell.
• march 7th | i was born in spring anointed in kerosene | thread with perihelion & secunit.
1. jean goes to apologise to secunit on behalf of harry for the fact harry stole the perihelion’s body. because he doesn’t trust secunit to not try to kill harry on sight. unfortunately, secunit cannot keep its mouth shut, and jean has a very short temper and a hair trigger when it comes to defending harry’s stupid decisions. this is the first time jean turns into cigarette bird, which causes him to panic, which leads secunit to panic and lash out further, which leads jean to lash out further, etc.. the fight is broken up by the perihelion, who will have NO MURDERING in its body THANK YOU!

april

summary: notus rebellion arc, where jean worked as a medic when he wasn’t sniffing around on comms. covid had me on my ass.

• april 1st | fortune in the morning | thread with harry du bois.
1. jean turns 36 years old. harry celebrates with him.
• april 24th | private icc | with thaal sinestro and olrox.
1. during the notus rebellion, jean is sniffing around corps comms at a rebel hideout with olrox. a simple mistake helps lead sinestro right to them. jean transforms into cigarette bird and attacks sinestro, landing several hits before getting his wings and legs sliced. sinestro summons a construct of harry at his worst moment, which proceeds to beat and choke jean before shooting itself in the head in front of him. olrox transforms into quetzalcoatl to finish what jean started, but is overpowered and kidnapped.
• april 24th | private icc | with harry du bois & kim kitsuragi.
1. jean returns home from notus, injured and shaken, and explains what happened. harry helps him get cleaned up. a lot of tears.

may

summary: jean’s rank 5 gift officially arrived. operation palemancer is set fully in motion.

• may 18th | angry bird | thread with handsome jack & rhaast.
1. jean attempts to go for a run on his injured leg, but ends up in too much pain to continue. he grows mad enough at himself to turn into cigarette bird. he attempts to fly home, but his flight feathers are too damaged, and he ends up crashing into a canal. jack - going by ‘thanatos’ and working as a monster hunter while on probation - spots him, and uses rhaast to try and slay him. jean, exhausted and in pain, runs, but gets cornered in an alleyway by jack, who chokes and beats him, triggering very raw memories of notus. jean puts a curse on jack that makes him unable to receive any mental stimulation from anything that isn’t extremely mundane.
• may 18th | private icc | with harry du bois.
1. jean returns home from his run-in with jack and his evil scythe, only to find that harry has been turned into a cockatoo. they do some bird preening while jean complains about his day.
• may 19th | cigarette bird becomes famous | general event.
1. news reports of jean’s run-in with jack circulate, putting a spotlight on the horrible animal terrorising euros.
• may 28th | my mind got to rambling like a wild geese from the west | drabble.
1. the spirit of revachol that has been clinging to jean finally succumbs to the pale that has been eating him alive since october. she accepts that, being the spirit of revachol itself, she cannot live outwith revachol, and allows herself to be swallowed by the pale. this creates wild pale yonder, who will proceed to ruin his life from now on. however, wild pale yonder also gives him the ability to inflict symptoms of pale radiation on others by way of his fury curses.

summer

june

summary: jean begins making money off his terrible racketeering gig, encouraged by starving white woman wild pale yonder.

• june 1st | private icc | with handsome jack.
1. jean heads to jack’s house to see if he wants to make a deal to get that curse removed. mostly just ends up verbally abusing the guy and eating his koi.
• june 9th | ardyn and dio brando get pale cursed | general event.
1. DUE TO MY FUMBLING, we did not get to write this. but dio brando paid jean to curse ardyn izunia, who paid jean to curse dio right back. dio, being a much bigger bastard than ardyn, got a much more potent dose of pale radiation than ardyn.
• june 17th | enabled | thread with peridot.
1. peridot sends one last message to jean before its death.
• june 30th | short fuse showdown | thread with harry du bois, eve polastri & villanelle.
1. eve, villanelle, jean, and harry agree to a double date over fondue. villanelle doesn’t show up and puts her mental link on silent.
• throughout june | he was a superstar! so young and vital! | general event.
1. more people are beginning to report their pale symptoms and run-ins with the bird that was previously reported on.

summary: irl was kicking my ass. peridot’s death also had jean very much moping.

• july 10th | private icc | with a bunch of people.
1. peridot’s birthday party/resurrection celebration! laser tag and movies.
• july 22nd | the quote that would open a can of bogeys | comms with harry du bois.
1. jean and harry go on a date to celebrate what is technically their anniversary. they choose the solarium, which jean quickly realises is the same garden he’s been hallucinating in his apartment. he has a bit of a crisis, but harry is happy to listen to his entroponetic rambling.

1. jean checks in on dio in a notus cinema. dio is too stubborn to pay jean to heal his pale sickness, so jean just takes his earrings in return for a latitude compressor.

autumn

september

summary: not much, but what did happen was pretty big. jean learned not to try to play with summer path memories, and his obsession with wild pale yonder became a bit more psychosexual. which is to say he has psychological sex with her.

• september 15th | luminosity arts festival | thread with a bunch of people.
1. jean watches kung fu panda. he likes it.
• september 25th | sora memory restoration | general event.
1. scheduling became an issue for this one. sora sought out cigarette bird to try and restore memories for him. it failed spectacularly, and left jean in a half-transformed state, leading him to relapse after 10 months.
• september 25th | native speaker | drabble.
1. jean takes painkillers he stole from kim to fix the pain from his failed transformation. they calm him enough to spend some time in the pale, where wild pale yonder convinces him to keep spreading her influence by jerking him off and letting him experience true gender euphoria. in short: jean technically has actual sex with the world of denouement.
• september 25th | i sweat it from my whole damn body! | comms with harry du bois.
1. jean confesses to harry that he cheated on him and relapsed. harry is more mad about the relapse than the cheating, and even more mad that jean was the one to fuck the pale before harry ever could. he gets off to jean’s recounting of it all, so it’s not so bad.

summary: dear god i did literally nothing in october 2024. anniversary of pale blasting! so maybe he was like… hallucinating too much, i don’t know.

summary: i got sick, so basically nothing happened.

1. chester made a deal with a witch and became a cis man. of course he comes to show jean his brand new cock and balls. jean is really mature about it and doesn’t have a gender-related meltdown or anything.
• november 20th | kiss kiss grow a tree | thread with serafina pekkala.
1. as part of the firefly reunification plot, jean agrees to go on a blind date. platonically, of course. he bothers serafina about witch stuff and she’s happy to answer and he has a really nice time actually. that isn’t sarcasm, he genuinely has a nice time.

winter

december

summary: unfortunately, a lot happened this month that i was unable to really be a part of due to being consistently very ill! jean goes to the plane of shadow, then spends the entire month taking care of lilith and beck, who he infects with pretty severe pale sickness by accident. beck is normal about it, but lilith refuses to follow jean’s instructions, and ends up getting addicted to getting lost in the pale. everyone wanted to beat jean’s ass, it was pretty funny.

• december 16th | private icc | with villanelle.
1. jean and villanelle go after the same target. jean only planned to curse the guy for cheating on his wife, but villanelle informs him that she’s here to assassinate him for murdering his exes, and to send a statement to judgement, who was spared execution in favour of imprisonment. jean decides that political statements and murdered exes are a little more important than him feeding his abusive fog wife, and so he agrees that villanelle should kill the guy. thus begins a business deal between the two: they’ll trade information on marks, and villanelle gets to assassinate the real bastards, while jean gets to curse the more mild bastards.
• december 17th | private icc | with lilith, beck rider & aleron.
1. the beginning of the hunger plot! jean goes with beck, aleron, and lilith to the plane of shadow, where he’s left without any of his skills. worse: he gets separated from the group, and ends up face-to-face with a monster that swims through stone like it’s water. weak and afraid, he transforms into cigarette bird, and ends up inflicting beck and lilith with pale sickness. lilith distracts him while beck tries to smash the mirror, leading jean to rip off lilith’s arm and get his left eye scratched out in return.
• december 21st | i still remember, i'm not telling tales | with peridot.
1. jean finds out lilith isn’t following his instructions on how to avoid losing your entire mind to pale sickness. he goes to scold lilith for it and they have a bit of a feelings talk.

january

summary: i was still very sick. however, jean and harry moved in together and harry proposed, entering a semi-nonsexual gay-centric throuple with them and wild pale yonder.

• january 13th | superstars sucked into the supermassive | thread with earthglade cluster.
1. earthglade assembles in a field to play baseball.
• january 14th | private icc | with harry du bois.
1. jean and harry move in to their new place together, eat a chippy, discuss fears of happiness, and harry proposes using the ring jean thought he lost. jean now has 2 wedding rings.

february

summary: MY FUCKING BAD, i ended up just being really burnt out from everything and stacked my own plate too high. jean and harry get OFFICIALLY married, then there’s a hunger finale where he once again infects people, but at least this time it’s not as strong a dose.

• february 15th | private icc | with harry du bois.
1. harry and jean get married!!! then celebrate by going to eat a chocolate costco wedding cake on a park bench while drinking non-alcoholic champagne. unknown while writing: lilith was on his power quest and blowing shit up a few miles away from where this was happening. not entirely relevant to the thread, but pretty funny.
• february 20th | the foggening | with general event.
1. part 1 of jean’s bad day. jean loses his rift abilities, so wild pale yonder gives him a helping hand and half-transforms him again. driven by rage and once again with no one to reel him back in, he goes out into the battlefield, and ends up infecting agatha harkness and tidus with his smoke. he is, however, extremely weakened both physically and by the fact his transformation isn’t complete. he spends a bit of time this month trying to make sure lilith 2.0 doesn’t happen.
• february 20th | private icc | with lilith.
1. part 2 of jean’s bad day. after hitting others with the fog, he tries to escape and rest, but instead bumps into lilith, who is now about 50% opal hunger construct, and 50% extra hateful thanks to his evil scythe. jean’s skills kick in just enough to tell him to avoid fighting, and he almost doesn’t listen until lilith throws his sword at him. it misses, but it explodes into hellfire, singing a few places down jean’s body. jean almost retaliates, but he’s finally convinced to run when lilith transforms into some kind of hellbeast that’s much bigger than him. jean, in pain and exhausted from his failed transformation, escapes.
• february 20th | private icc | with inay doshi.
1. part 3 of jean’s bad day. after escaping lilith, jean finally finds a place to rest. unfortunately, inay decided to walk around outside during a battle, and happens upon a very exhausted jean that’s amped up on adrenaline and pain. jean gears up to attack inay, but inay sends out some kind of technology to electrocute and stun him while inay runs for it, which only really serves to piss jean off more. he uses his last burst of anger to track down inay once he’s able to move, and by sheer luck, finds the exact alley his prey ran down. he floods the area with smoke, flushing inay out and infecting him, which leads inay to gear up a laser blast with the intent to kill jean. fortunately for inay, jean finally collapses and truly can’t get up this time, and inay is able to flee.
• february 21st | rhodonite for stress relief | thread with inay doshi & michael langdon.
1. jean follows up with inay after the events of the day before. he brings him a latitude compressor, explains the situation, and tries not to kill and/or be killed by inay’s stupid magic twink.
• february 27th | private icc | thread with dante from devil may cry.
1. jean is one of the last people to see lilith alive, and dante follows him around for hours while jean actively attempts to lead him into the desert to leave him for dead. instead, he loses his patience and confronts dante, who asks him about lilith. jean tells him all he knows, and they end up sharing some woes and fears and reaching a sort of understanding in their worry for a mutual… friend who wants them both dead.
