summary: getting settled into things, coming to terms with the fact his best friend doesn't remember him, making his grief everyone else's problem.

1. jean arrives in denouement after the worst night of his life, only to bump into the man that made it the worst night of his life - harry du bois - who claims to have no clue who he is. he ropes jean into helping him search for a cryptid, but it leads to an explosive argument and Jean storming off.

1. after storming off post-argument, jean bumps into a stranger that now claims to know him. seeing jean in such a sorry state, kim opts to take jean back to his apartment to get cleaned up. jean stops holding in the meltdown he's been forcing down and kim gets the brunt of it.

summary: unfortunately irl fucked me this month, so not much actual rping got done. this month, jean got thrown into the deep end by way of investigating a string of murders! everything went tits-up mostly.

1. jean, kim, and harry get the call that they failed to stop the murder in zephyrus, and go to investigate.

1. jean, kim, and harry stay in a zephyrus inn to continue their investigation in the morning. jean has a panic attack and then a sexuality crisis. harry tries to convince him to let the soft animal of his body love what it loves.

summary: irl bullshit came to a head! 0 writing happened! but jean did pick up the sun crown while snooping at the hunger games opening. i THINK that happened in june. in total i made two posts and it was jean taking the sun crown.

july

summary: BACK ON TRACK! chester mclaine arrived, undoing a lot of jean’s work on his repression and internalised homophobia. a lot of jean & harry development. chester forced jean to drink cursed water with him, so jean spent 50% of his life as a dog. an irish wolfhound btw. if you even care. this is also the month that jean could confirm with 100% certainty that fuck zephyrus.

• july 2nd | our minds are not our friends | thread with harry du bois.
1. harry has a nightmare while sleeping on jean’s couch after a twilight movie marathon. after spending the last 4 months pretending he wouldn’t let himself get wrapped up in harry’s bullshit again, jean loses the war against his own feelings and kisses harry while telling him he loves him. but like, in a masc way.

1. jean finds chester at the welcome centre. they go and get sandwiches together at the worst place they can find. jean gets a roommate.

1. chester informs jean of a strange radio signal causing problems for him at work. jean checks it out, and the signal turns out to be a person of sorts. as you probably already guessed, that person… was albert einstein.

1. jean talks to peridot over the radio. haha i was just kidding about einstein, it was peridot the whole time.

1. jean reached rank 1 of the winter path. winter snowglobe was added to inventory.

1. jean and harry have a sleepover. unfortunately, they end up fucking for the first time since harry lost his memory. jean’s plan to keep harry at arms length goes up in smoke.

1. chester buys some cursed zephyrus water and drinks it with jean. chester becomes a kid, but jean remains normal. until sundown… when he suddenly transforms into a dog.

august

summary: keeping up with the zephyrus plot, moving in to the saw plot, which means more jeanharry drama! yay! a lot of actual detective work happening this month. this is where he really started trying to be sober too.

1. harry and jean hang out at the beach before they head out to zephyrus. jean is calm the entire time and doesn’t accuse harry of anything and he is very confident of the road ahead.

1. jean, wren, harry, kim, and chester meet up with jabhir in zephyrus to inquire about the crown of the sun.
• august 13th | throat as dry as a midsummer’s stream | thread with chester mclaine.
1. jean and chester go to do some detective work one evening, and find some leads on the water smugglers. jean is a dog the entire time also.

1. jean reached rank 2 of the winter path. he gained the memory reveal spell, and said hello to his new eurasian-magpie-themed hrimfax, capitaine.
• august 25th | junkie church | comms with harry du bois.
1. harry ranks up on the summer path, and informs jean of his new unlocked memories. none of which involve jean.
• august 26th | darkside of the moon | thread with wren hoyes & chester mclaine.
1. jean, wren, and chester go to find the moon amulet. they failed! 👏
• august 27th | show me the fifth or the cadence you want me to play | thread with harry du bois & kim kitsuragi.
1. harry and kim are acting weird after confessing their feelings to each other. jean is violently jealous and makes it known via explosive anger and telling kim all the ways harry is going to fuck him up, then uses a memory reveal spell to show a reel of memories of harry before martinaise. all of which are also news to harry.

1. a detailed list of the memories jean showed harry and kim. includes harry faking his death without informing jean that’s what would be happening, harry calling jean to hit on him contrasted with harry calling his ex to verbally abuse her, harry recklessly drunk driving while threatening jean with a loaded gun during a violent meltdown, harry encouraging jean to act on his violent intrusive thoughts while plying him with drugs and alcohol, and harry’s meltdown in martinaise the night he told jean to fuck off for good and jean listened.

summary: a LOT of moping. harry finally starts speaking to jean again after getting his leg cut off by jigsaw’s runaway train. his sobriety attempt fails miserably. nobody seems to be willing to talk about it, and eager to move on, but jean withdraws entirely.

1. jean is accosted by eve while he’s at work. he remembers working with her back in april, but she went and got summer pathed. he’s fragile from all the memory bullshit happening around him, so he just offers himself for her to kill and eat, but she fails due to some monkey’s paw shit.

1. jean hears about barry’s research into the rift troubles in euros. with everyone’s memory being at the forefront of his mind, he immediately thinks it’s something to do with the pale. he goes to barry to discuss entroponetics. JESUS CHRIST THIS WAS THE OFFICIAL START OF THE PALE ARC.

1. harry finally responds to jean after completely ghosting him for 2 weeks. jean spent a majority of those two weeks verbally abusing harry through texts in between begging for forgiveness.

1. jean visits harry in the hospital. harry refuses to explain what happened no matter how much jean threatens him. jean then attacks him, and is subsequently removed by security.

october

summary: jean goes to revachol to retrieve the chariot’s gauntlet from the pale. they’re stopped not by violent attacks from the chariot’s army, but the mundane bureaucracy of the moralintern. upon returning from revachol after a successful mission, jean was deep in the throes of pale radiation, and a fragment of the spirit of revachol had clung to him as thanks for a job well done. not that he remembered it.

• october 2nd | the stasis of a spirit taken from its only home | drabble.
1. jean gets a message from the cosmos regarding the chariot, whose gauntlets are in the middle of the pale back in revachol.
• october 3rd | so, tuebor, my home! your desperate friend | thread with barry bluejeans. wren hoyes & gabriel ultrakill.
1. jean, wren, barry, and gabriel arrive in revachol to retrieve the chariot’s gauntlet. unfortunately, they stay in jean’s apartment, which should be considered a torture method.

1. jean, wren, barry, and gabriel traverse the pale to retrieve the gauntlet. revachol itself, sensing their presence and intentions, does her best to help.

1. jean arrives back in euros, absolutely assblasted by the pale, and harry comes to find him to bring him back home safely.

1. jean reached rank 3 of the winter path. he obtained the lie detection spell and a telepathic link with harry du bois.

1. harry and jean discover their new telepathic link and use it to be normal. this is also the formal introduction of jean’s named skills with specific jobs.

1. harry and jean find cuno, who is sick as a dog, and so they take him to the vet.

november

summary: the pale continues to warp his mind and grasp on reality.

• november 12th | as one long prepared, and full of courage | drabble.
1. jean finds photos of himself but recognises none of them. he attempts to shave, but the pale sickness makes the sight of pieces of himself falling away into a whole ordeal, and so he ends up breaking down.
• november 15th | foraging closeness from shadows retreating | thread with carol ferris.
1. jean becomes obsessed with a missing woman in boreas. he heads there in his pyjamas and is found by carol, who helps him find the missing woman out in the forest. the woman turns out to be a pale hallucination that jean can’t save.
• november 30th | they ripped off our collars, we had nowhere to hide | thread with kim kitsuragi.
1. jean feels drawn to the chariot fight, but her influence includes fits of rage that jean is already prone to. kim tries to follow behind and get jean back home, but jean has taken his gun and, out of his mind on pale sickness, shoots kim for getting in his way.

winter

december

summary: kim’s in hospital thanks to jean, who is still balls deep in the fog but learning to deal with it slowly. this is, however, also a depression arc due to him making the connection that harry’s sobriety seems to come easier to him when jean is completely out of the picture. on top of that, he feels like a burden for being so incapable of taking care of himself due to his pale sickness. overall just didn’t do much because he was fully lost in the sauce and also miserable.

• december 6th | sometimes it returns like rain that you slept through | thread with harry du bois.
1. people have been acting weird and standoffish around jean since the chariot fight. he confronts harry, who informs him that jean is the one that shot kim.
• december 7th | rank up! | general event.
1. jean reached rank 4 of the winter path. he got a black arctic wolf tail and the technopathy spell that in hindsight he just never used lol.
• december 16th | private icc | with peridot.
1. jean goes to myrkvid due to everything being overstimulating as hell to his pale-addled brain, making the featureless landscape of mirkvid in winter very appealing. peridot picks up on his presence and comes to see what he’s doing, and they talk about grief and loving those who are hell-bent on hurting themselves and others.

1. jean and chester get into the festive spirit and decorate some guy’s lawn for him with a bunch of not-christmas decorations. they get into an argument about jean’s defeatist attitude.

summary: not much. i think i was burnt out a bit. new mind link with villanelle, and brief body swap arc.

1. jean has ANOTHER new voice in his head. at least this one is a woman so nobody can say he’s not a feminist. she’s also pretty relatable as it goes! enter his mental link with villanelle.

1. jean wakes up in some other guy’s body, and so goes to find his own body.

summary: HARRY BECAME A SPACESHIP!!!

1. harry has swapped bodies with the perihelion! but nobody told jean that, and nobody has the ability to tell jean that either! jean thinks harry has lost his memory again and is very mature and rational about it.

1. jean takes harry to the art gallery as promised. or, as he claimed harry promised him he would. nobody promised shit, he’s just trying to jog harry’s memory again.

1. cuno is sick again. jean, having adopted him by now, takes care of him the best he can.

1. the perihelion contacts jean over the radio and tries to reveal its true identity. jean thinks it’s a prank and ends up cussing it out.
