jean’s rank 5 winter gift allows him to talk to denouement itself, meaning he can learn anything about anything (names, locations, histories, you name it! i do mean Anything about Anyone.). yes, he can learn secrets about people he’s never even met. yes, he’s willing to obtain and use those secrets to his advantage. the biggest downside is he has to go through the pale to do it, meaning his mental and physical state take a pretty hard beating each time. regardless, he’s willing to use it to the advantage of others too, if they’ve got something really good to offer in return. the more information that’s required, the more of a toll it takes on him physically, and sometimes the answers are vague unless he keeps pushing himself for a clearer picture. it’s time-consuming and psychologically taxing. he won’t say yes to just anything, and it will be all down to the discretion of any muns involved.

GOT THE GUN IN MY HAND AND I KNOW IT LOOKS BAD

jean has access to a fog that causes symptoms EXTREMELY similar to the ones in the euros winter regional plot! these symptoms were covered by the news a few times because he went a bit doolally and infected a bunch of people with these symptoms (and many more! much worse ones!) mostly on purpose, sometimes by accident. he stopped around march of this year when he did something very silly that ended up curing everyone of the symptoms which left already baffled medical experts even more baffled. in any case, it would be incredibly easy to assume he has something to do with this. he doesn’t, because he no longer has access to the delivery method of the disease, but it would be funny to bother him anyway. he currently [1/12/25] has no idea that he is not responsible for this, and so he will also be willing to try and test some theories on how to cure it. or, if you’re annoying about it, he’ll sell you a fake cure.

“I’M FIGHTING DEMONS” AND THE DEMON IS BISEXUALITY

as of september D26, jean has become a half-demon. this probably opens him up to some shenanigans with demon-hunters and the like. starting winter D26, he will be learning how to actually use his demon powers, meaning he might become a little more formidable as time goes on. if your demon hunter type character wants an “easy” win, he’s here for them. not by choice though.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE THERE? A KNIFE! NO!!!

jean obtained a pokémon! it’s a banette with a penchant for thievery and trickery. it likes to steal items, swap them around, possess them, and return the stolen valuables (and not-so-valuables) to jean as gifts during his low points. or just because it likes to pester people. it could result in shenanigans, be it someone catching banette stealing and being led to jean, putting up searches for their missing valuables that jean finds (and decides to be a good citizen for once), or anything in between.

SEASONAL PLOTS

just in general, if you see a seasonal plot that you think would be fun, feel free to reel him into it. but like… ask me first obviously. i don’t like when he goes off on his own without telling me.

ROMANCING

i’m open to attempts, but it will currently lead nowhere. jean has just lost his partner and best friend of 10 years, the only person he could say with 100% certainty knew him better than he knew himself. losing both his arms would be easier than losing harry has been, and he’s not ready to move on in the slightest. in future, if/when he is ready to move on, i must make it clear that jean vicquemare is 110% more committed to harry du bois than he is to your muse. THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE. should he ever enter a relationship and someone apps harry, your muse will essentially become third wheel in their own relationship. it also goes without saying that jean is very mentally unwell and this affects how he approaches relationships and people. to put it simply: the healthier a relationship is, the more he’s going to try and sabotage it to make it more exciting for himself. if you want cute and uncomplicated fluff, you gotta go elsewhere. you can’t fix him.

SEXUAL CONTENT

open to it, but not likely. he is disgusted by his own desires and appearance, but after having an active and enjoyable sex life for the last 2 years, he’s a bit more in tune with what he likes and dislikes. he MIGHT! be open to sex with strangers if he’s certain they’ll never meet again (or, if they do, it will specifically/only for sex), and much less open to sex with people he knows unless he really, truly, genuinely trusts them. please keep in mind that currently, any casual sex will be under the influence of alcohol, or as a means of self-harm. he is not in a good place and he is not making good decisions due to his grief. please also note that jean is primarily a top, and prefers to use strap-ons for the gender euphoria of it all. he is also a kinky weirdo. whatever level of kinky you thought when i said that, multiply it by about 10. in short: the more degrading, painful, and/or dangerous it is, the more he enjoys it.

FIGHTING

yes! it's likely to happen because he's a jackass at times. he only really picks on people his own size and knows when a fight isn't worth picking at all. just be aware he knows how to fight with actual combat training, growing up in a shitty environment, and new-found rage-based demon energy powers. AND ☝️ he's also fucking insane, so it's an "at your own risk" sort of deal here.

INJURING

yes. nothing fatal of course unless we discuss it beforehand, but his half-demon status allows him to heal from injuries fairly quickly. the more severe they are, the longer it takes to heal, but a chib with a switchblade won’t bother him for long at all.

KILLING

no, unless there’s a failsafe, but i’m generally not a huge fan of death plots, especially not repeated ones.
